Stretch marks, or striae, are a form of skin scarring associated with pregnancy, obesity, puberty, and short-term weight gain from bodybuilding and other physical activities. They form when the dermis – the middle layer of the skin that maintains shape and elasticity – is stretched more than it can tolerate. Connective fibers in the skin eventually break, disrupting collagen production and causing scarring. Stretch marks are especially common on the thighs, hips, breasts, abdomen, lower back, buttocks, and arms. This scarring may be treatable through stretch mark removal.
The degree of success with any treatment will be impacted by your age and your skin tone. Candidates for stretch mark removal include:

Procedure Options
Microdermabrasion
This type of treatment, also used to help with scarring, can help improve the skin’s structure and surface as it grows. The skin is scuffed, or abraded, to stimulate collagen and elastin growth. Similar to laser treatment, the collagen and elastin form a new layer under the stretch mark and plump up the affected area to look more like the surrounding skin. For best results, microdermabrasion must be repeated six to twelve times.
This treatment tends to be the least expensive of the known effective treatments, with the least amount of risk, fewest possible complications, and one of the highest success rates. This procedure with a medical grade apparatus and skilled physician can reduce the appearance of stretch marks by as much as 70%. Although microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of scars, it is not an effective means of complete stretch mark removal.
Cosmetic Laser treatment
These treatments are most effective on dark colored or pink/red stretch marks. We can treat thighs, hips, waist, abdomen, and arms effectively. Treatments can last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, and may have to be repeated for best results.
Creams
There are many non-FDA approved treatment creams for stretch marks. Unfortunately, there have not been any proven results with any of the known commercial creams.
